Happy New Year!

It amazes me how it got to be 2007 so quickly. Time is just flying by. It was great having two whole weeks off of work. I especially enjoyed being able to get home and see family and friends. It was amazing how much the babies had grown and changed in only 4 weeks. The next thing I know, I’ll be getting wedding invitations from them. UGH! I was also very thankful that I was able to be home during the time Grandma Sullivan had her surgery. Everything went smoothly, but that’s scary stuff—especially when you’re far away. I’m glad she’s back on her feet and raring to go again. I also really enjoyed hanging out with my Grandpa while Grandma was away. Not only is he a really good guy, that man cooks SOOO well. I was afraid I was going to have to grease the door of the airplane to get on when I went back home I ate so much, but I rarely get good home cooking, so I really enjoyed it while I was there—thanks Grandpa & Mom!!

Getting back to work has been good for me—keeps me from being a lazy slug. Although, after two weeks off of work, I think I could easily find better things to do with my time than work, but until I win the lottery, I’m still slaving away.

One of my goals this year is to travel for work less than I did last year. I was the top traveler in HR for my business, not an honor I really wanted. After announcing this new goal to my team several times, I find that I will be traveling about 3 - 4 different weeks in January. So far, my goal is not working out as I had planned, but I AM going to be able to get to Disney World on one of my business trips, so life does have one or two perks in store for me. J

Speaking of traveling, I spent quite a bit of time this week making reservations for my trip to Peru in February. I had been working on using my frequent flier miles for the trip and saving myself a bundle of cash, but as is often the case, no seats available for miles. I finally gave up that pipe dream and have purchased my ticket the regular way. I have now paid for my hotel, the tours, and my flight. All I’ll have to pay for when I get there is food, tips, and souvenirs. If anyone has anything you’d like me to shop for you when I’m there, please let me know. Peru is known for gold, silver, and copper jewelry, turquoise, alpaca wool products, and pottery. The group I’m traveling with is actually planning a couple days dedicated directly to shopping. I’m obviously traveling with a higher brow (or at least better paid) crowd this time than last. I am definitely looking forward to the trip.

And finally, I’m still looking for a new job. I’ve applied to several jobs, but no luck yet. If you hear of anything that sounds good, I’d appreciate any job leads I can get (especially if it’s in the Southern CA region.

*ears perk up*

Did you say alpaca or wool products from Peru? If you spy any local handspun yarn of either type, I'd be very grateful and willing to pay you back. :)
