I was able to get up early before the picnic, and got out to do a bit of exploring. I was able to see a few sites on the National Mall. I was able to go to one of the Smithsonian Museum buildings I have been wanting to get to for years--the Museum of American History. Most of it was closed for renovation, but I was able to see the dresses of the Presidents' Wives, some of the Muppetts, and Julia Child's kitchen. Life was good.
From there, I headed out to the company picnic. It was such a beautiful day--perfect for a picnic. They had a couple hundred people turn out with their families. It was good to get to meet so many of their people.
I then drove down to visit Ramona and her family. They have a beautiful home. It was good to hang out and catch up with them. Ericka was kind enough to give up her room for me. The Stotlers are great hosts--even when their guests show up on almost no notice whatsoever. Thanks, guys! On Sunday morning, Mona and Brian took me for a tour of Historical Yorktown, which was very quaint. The best part of the tour was this little restaurant called "The Carrot Tree". Patrick had raved about it since I got there, so I HAD to check this out. We only bought a few desserts to try out, but they were SOOO good. If you ever get out that way, make sure to stop by the Carrot Tree for a nice treat.
I've included a few pictures from this weekend for you to enjoy.
